Warning! Car trips that look fast on paper, might turn out to be not so fast in reality.

Driving from the San Francisco Bay Area to Walla Walla, Washington, is one of those trips. Eight hundred eighty-eight miles is a long haul. Why didn't I realize that?

A friend I wanted to see, because I missed her on my 2013 halfway across the county trip, is in Walla Walla WA. So why not pack a sloppy suitcase and an ablution bag and drive north to the Pacific Northwest. I pulled clothes out of the closets and drawers at home not bothering to make sure anything matched, threw them in a suitcase and forgot about what I packed. For the ablution travel bag, I had three tubes of toothpaste but no toothbrush.

The trip was worth it though because I saw my one newer friend of three years, another friend who I hadn't seen in 20+ years who was with me when I needed someone to understand, and a cousin who I hadn't seen in 40+ years. Overall a very successful trip which reaffirmed and re-established connections that had been put on hold for so long.
